There are thousands of satellites orbiting Earth. These satellites are our eyes in the sky capturing images of other planets and the sun, and images of Earth! These images and information from the satellites help us understand our world in countless ways.
In our new ‘Our World From Space’ workshop we will uncover how satellites help us track and discover animals, keep tabs on climate change by monitoring sea and land temperatures, and stay ahead of the game with updates on major natural and man-made events like droughts.
The workshop is suitable for ages 6+.
Around the centre there will also be some extra table-top activities tailored for explorers aged 5 and above, featuring:
- Beat the clock with our reaction timer game, where you’ll experience the thrill of GPS animal tracking first-hand!
- Unleash your creativity at our Satellite Crafts Station and craft your very own mini satellite masterpiece.
- Discover the Walrus from Space project, a collaboration between WWF and the British Antarctic Survey, and join the mission to spot walrus haulouts from above.
For Under 6s, there will also be a story session with matching activity !
Our World From Space will run on weekends and during Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire school holidays, from the 2nd March – 31st May.
