Platforms of Tomorrow Challenge

Attention Teachers!

Aberdeen Science Centre has partnered with Norway’s Vitenfabrikken (The Science Factory) to create the North Sea Collaboration Project. We are excited to introduce the ‘Platforms of Tomorrow Challenge’ – a journey into innovation and sustainability!

In this challenge, students, working individually or in groups, will submit LEGO builds (or similar models) showcasing their ideas for reimagining disused oil platforms in innovative and environmentally friendly ways. Imagine the endless possibilities as they envision sustainable futures! 🌍💡

Challenge Details:

  • Who: Open to students from P5-P7 and S1-S3 in schools located within Aberdeenshire, City and Moray (and Rogaland, Norway).
  • What: Students, individually or in groups, will create LEGO builds (or similar models) showcasing their innovative ideas for transforming disused oil platforms sustainably.
  • Prize: One winner from each country will receive receive a visit to their local science centre (ASC or Vitenfabrikken) and the overall winner will win £1,000 prize to fund green initiatives within their school or local community.
  • Format: Submissions can be presented in drawing or video format.
  • Deadline: Friday, 11th October 2024 (end of Term 1 of the 2024/25 school year).
