Arcola Energy will be visiting Aberdeen Science Centre with their fantastic Hydrogen Car as will be setting the Hydrogen challenge in our Make It Zone https://arcolaenergyeducation.com/programmes/hydrogen-challenge/
Volcano:
Excellent fun with this hands-on experiment where the kids, together with a demonstrator, will create a volcano eruption using sodium bicarbonate, vinegar and washing up liquid.
The Non-burning £5 Note & Colour flames:
Why not get involved with this ‘colourful’ experiment, where we will observe the colour of the flames when burning different chemicals such as sodium chloride (table salt), potassium chloride or Copper sulphate, which is attributed to the metals (sodium, potassium, copper). Moreover, together with the kids we will create a £5 note that is non-flammable! This experiment will be carried out by demonstrators and visitors
pH Painting:
In this activity, the kids will experiment with the concept of pH (eg. acidity) by using a red cabbage indicator. They will get to test various household products and determine their pH, as well as create paintings on “magic” paper. We’re very ‘neutral’ on the whole subject!
