Dedicated to making science more accessible, Aberdeen Science Centre have created a bundle of resources for schools and the wider community. Whether you are are looking for new ideas for the classroom, teaching resources or boredom busters for rainy days we’ve got you covered. 

Loan Boxes

We have free loan boxes available for schools to explore science themes in the classroom and playground.

Bioblitz Loan Box

Our Bioblitz loan boxes contain everything teachers and their pupils need to explore biodiversity in the playground.
 
The loan boxes, which include ID cards and investigative equipment, are available for schools to borrow for free, for up to three weeks at a time.

Planet Protectors Loan Box

Aberdeen Science Centre have developed a ‘Planet Protectors’ loan box to allow you to explore your environment in your own time. Our loans boxes are available for the public to borrow free of charge! You can loan a box for up to two weeks.

The box includes a portable air quality monitor, a soil testing monitor, a magnifying glass and stationery! Alongside the equipment you will receive a ‘CO2 and You’ activity booklet and a ‘How Does Your Garden Grow’ Activity booklet complete with background information on air pollution and soil science plus experiment ideas and instruction on how to use the monitors.

STEM Nation Awards

We are excited to be a Supporter of the STEM Nation Award  programme.

The programme has been developed by Education Scotland to support early learning and childcare settings, schools and community learning and development providers to develop high-quality STEM learning in their setting and to celebrate their achievements along the way.

As of October 2022, 145 settings have registered from across Scotland. 44 settings have been awarded one or more elements and 23 settings have achieved the full STEM Nation Award.
