Role Purpose:
To help Aberdeen Science Centre club members to get the most out of their time by engaging with them during the club and supporting them to develop STEM skills. Collaborate with our club leads and communicator staff to create the five-star visitor experience that we aspire to.
We stress that no experience is necessary, as training will be given.
ASC run clubs in 4 week blocks at weekends or after school, or from Monday-Thursday daily during school holidays, with each session running for between 1.5-2hours. Clubs include STEM (7-10 years old), Engineering (9-12 years old), Junior Coder (6-8 years old) and Coding (9-12 years old).
Clubs usually have a theme running over the 4 weeks, like Amazing Bodies or Journey to the Centre of the Earth. The 3 hours you would be volunteering would include time before and after the club time to support with the smooth running of the club.
Volunteers in this role would be expected to:
- Bring a passion for fun and engaging experiences
- Support Club Lead
- Help club member test out their STEM skills
- Be welcoming to club members and parents/guardians
- Bring own experiences and examples to the club
- Be pro-active and hands-on during activities
- Be enthusiastic
- Be pro-active and willing to try new things
