Net Zero Planning

In alignment with Scotland’s environmental goals, Aberdeen Science Centre is dedicated to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2045. With the expertise of Boxfish, we conducted a detailed Carbon Baseline Report for the 2022/2023 fiscal year, revealing total emissions of 90.52 tCO2e, mainly from electricity, district heating, and transportation-related activities. To track our progress, we have adopted intensity metrics—with 4.63 tCO2e per FTE and 87.26 tCO2e per £M revenue—that will serve as benchmarks to measure year-on-year improvements.

Our ongoing commitment includes significant projects to further reduce carbon intensity, positioning us as leaders in sustainability within the educational sector.
