📢 Engineers! Join Aberdeen Science Centre and Robert Gordon University for Enchanted Engineering. This new project aims to increase public engagement skills in engineers and empower young people to tackle real-world engineering challenges through creative storytelling. 

Together we will slay dragons, meet wizards and venture through forests, discovering the power of engineering along our way.   

We are looking for engineers, from different fields, to help us showcase the wide and wonderful world of engineering. You will participate in a 2-day public engagement skills academy to create activities for children aged 7-14. These activities will be inspired by fairytales but grounded in real engineering work!

The academy will equip engineers with the necessary skills and confidence to design science activities for a younger audience, making engineering accessible. Our experienced team will cover areas such as science capital, questioning techniques, and activity development to enhance engineers’ confidence and practical knowledge. 

Together with the ASC team, engineers will present their activities at a free public weekend at Aberdeen Science Centre and at “Engineer Your Evening,” a sleepover event for Brownies and Guides. 

Dates:
Skills Academy: 12th September 2024
Delivery at Engineer Your Evening: 7th February 2025 (evening activity, no overnight stay)
Delivery at Public Day: 8th and 9th February 2025
Participants do not need to be available for all three delivery dates.
