When can we visit?
The Centre will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Currently, we have Wednesdays and Thursdays available for school bookings. We will be open for a maximum of 2 groups per bubble per day.
What is included in the entry?
Entry to Aberdeen Science Centre includes a show or workshop* and time to explore our redeveloped exhibition floor with over sixty new exhibits. You will be provided with a teacher’s timetable upon your arrival, which is a guide to your activities.
*Please note the shows and workshop in our STEM Learning Programme are subject to availability.
How do I book a school trip?
The easiest way to book your school trip is through filling this booking form. Alternatively, you can also drop us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org or can call the centre on 01224 640340 but as some of our team are still working from home there may not be anyone available to book via telephone at this time.
How soon do I need to confirm the booking?
All school trip requirements must be confirmed two weeks before the visit. This includes the number of pupils attending and show or workshop.
How much will our visit cost?
We offer discounted prices for Educational groups. Please enquire at email@example.com for more details.
Can I change the number of pupils attending?
Currently, we are taking booking for bubbles of up to 35 children. You can alter/amend the number of children within that bubble, however, if the number is above 35 children, you will need to book another session.
What happens when I arrive?
You will be met by a dedicated staff member at Reception. We’ll give your group a welcome talk – including information about Fire exits and other details you need to know during your visit.
Please try to stick to your group/bubble. We will be operating quite a strict timetable for the day to ensure you have a safe visit.
Will there be members of public in the building?
Yes, we are open to public from Wednesday to Sunday. You will be provided with a timetable which is a complete guide to your booked activities. This is also to minimise shared spaces with the public during your visit.
How do I pay?
You can make a payment on the day of your visit through cheque, credit card or cash. We can also invoice the school after your visit.
What happens if we're running late or early?
If you are running late, don’t worry, just give us a call on 01224 640 340 and inform us your estimated time of arrival. We will try our best to accomodate your class visit.
If you are early, please check with the reception staff and if there is room, we will be able to start early.
What happens if I need to cancel our visit?
Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel your booking. The dates to reschedule your visit will be subject to availability.
If you cancel the booking in less than 2 weeks of the date of your visit, we will charge some administration costs to the school. Please enquire at firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
Will there be somewhere to store our belongings?
We have dedicated space (and trolleys) available for you to store coats, bags and packed lunches. Our staff will let you know on your arrival.
Aberdeen Science Centre cannot take responsibility for any items that go missing during your visit so please do not bring anything of value with you. There are lockers available if you need to use these.
Can we bring packed lunches?
You can bring packed lunches. Please let us know at the time of booking if you need space for packed lunches.
Am I allowed to take photos?
You can take photos of your class as long as you have prior permission from pupil’s parents/guardians.
You cannot take photos of other visitors in the Science Centre.
Can we visit the Gift shop?
Located at the entrance reception, we have a Gift Shop with a selection of new, affordable pocket-money educational items suitable for all ages and own branded merchandise.
If you would like to include time for your class to visit the shop, please inform our Education staff at the time of booking.
How accessible is the Science Centre?
We have a range of support and facilities available, including a Changing Places facility, ramps and lifts. Visit the Accessibility Information page for more details.
If any of your pupils have access requirements, please let us know and we will be able to make arrangements to accommodate this during your visit.
Are Teacher preview visits available?
We offer a preview visit for teachers before you plan your class visit to the Science Centre. Please ask our Education staff for
the preview visit at the time of booking (Timing and dates subject to availability).
If any of your pupils have any conditions (E.g. Photosensitive epilepsy), access requirements or learning needs, please let
us know and we will be able to make arrangements to accommodate this during your visit.
What measures are you taking for our visit to be safe?
We are limiting the number of visitors in the Centre, and we will ensure that each group maintain safe distance at all times. One of our staff will be with your group all the time to ensure this.

Will we be able to explore everything in the Centre?
We will have the main exhibition floor open. We’ve increased our cleaning regime and installed hand sanistiser units throughout the centre.
Do Teachers and accompanying adults need to wear a face covering?
Yes, as per the Scottish Govenment guidelines you are required to wear face covering indoors and whilst moving about the science centre. Face coverings can be removed whilst sitting in the cafe.
There are some exceptions to face coverings which can be found here in the Scottish Government Guidelines.
Do you have a cafe?
Yes, the cafe will be open operating at a reduced capacity to allow for social distancing and with contactless payments preferred.

Will toilets be open?
Yes, toilets including our Changing Places will be open. We will try to accomodate designated slots in your timetable for your group to use the toilets. There will space outside the toilets for queues.
