When can we visit?

We are open for school bookings Monday-Friday during term time. We have two time slots per day, 10:00-12:00, and 12:30-14:30.

How much does a visit cost?

Costs can vary across local authorities due to availability of funding, please get in touch with the team at education@asc.scot to let us know which school you are from, and we can confirm how much a visit will be.

How soon do I need to confirm the booking?

All school trip requirements must be confirmed at least two weeks before the visit. This includes the number of pupils attending and show or workshop.

What is included in the entry?

We offer a two-hour visit which includes one of our interactive shows or workshops, and time on the exhibition floor. Please note the shows and workshop in our STEM Learning Programme are subject to availability.

What happens when I arrive?

You will be met by a dedicated staff member at Reception. We’ll give your group a welcome talk – including information about Fire exits and other details you need to know during your visit.

We will be operating quite a strict timetable for the day to ensure you have a safe visit.

Will there be members of public in the building?

Yes, as a visitor centre we are open to public from seven days a week.

How do I pay?

You can make a payment on the day of your visit through cheque, credit card or cash. We can also invoice the school after your visit.

At confirmation stage, you will be asked to share the PO for the trip (if required by your school office).

What happens if we're running late or early?

If you are running late, don’t worry, just give us a call on 01224 640 340 and inform us your estimated time of arrival. We will try our best to accomodate your class visit.

If you are early, please check with the reception staff and if there is room, we will be able to start early.

Do you have space for bus drop offs?

Yes. There is a dedicated drop off bay right outside the front of Aberdeen Science Centre’s doors.

Will there be somewhere to store our belongings?

We have dedicated space (and trolleys) available for you to store coats, bags and packed lunches. Our staff will let you know on your arrival.

Aberdeen Science Centre cannot take responsibility for any items that go missing during your visit so please do not bring anything of value with you. There are lockers available if you need to use these.

Am I allowed to take photos?

You can take photos of your class as long as you have prior permission from pupil’s parents/guardians.

You cannot take photos of other visitors in the Science Centre.

Can we bring packed lunches?

You can bring packed lunches. However, please let us know at the time of booking if you need space for packed lunches as this depends on availability.

Do you have a cafe?

Yes, Grub Fresh Food opperate our onsite cafe and the cafe will be open for teachers. The cafe is also open to the public and can be busy at peak times.

Can we visit the Gift shop?

Located at the entrance reception, we have a Gift Shop with a selection of new, affordable pocket-money items suitable for sale.

If you would like to include time for your class to visit the shop, please inform our Education team know at the time of booking.
